Manon Rhéaume

Manon Rheaume ( born February 24, 1972 in Lac -Beauport, Quebec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper. She is considered one of the best female goalkeeper in the world.

Career

On August 8, 1992, she was the first woman who came in a preseason game of the National Hockey League action. She played for the newly formed Tampa Bay Lightning against the St. Louis Blues. Previously she also became the first woman, graduated in the top Canadian junior league LHJMQ a game for the Draveurs de Trois- Rivières. However, it was a breakthrough in all men's leagues denied, even in the so-called Minor Leagues, it was rarely used.

Together with the Canadian national team, she won the silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. At the World Championships in 1992 and 1994, she was with Canada World Champion.

Her brother Pascal Rheaume was a regular in the NHL and won in 2003 with the New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup.

Manon Rheaume is married and has a son.
