Manorhamilton

Manorhamilton ( Irish: Cluainín or longer Cluainín Uí Ruairc, namely: " O'Rourke small meadow ") is a town in County Leitrim in the North West of Ireland.

The place

Manorhamilton is located north of Leitrim, about 25 km south of the border with County Donegal, on the N16 from Sligo to Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Sligo is located 27 km to the west, Enniskillen in County Fermanagh away 41 km to the east. With Bundoran on the N15 in the north of Manor Hamilton is joined by a regional road ( R280 ), as well as with the national roads N4 and N17 bypassing of Sligo to the south.

The proximity to Sligo Town meant that there are many working there commuters and Manorhamilton its part, has experienced over the past few years, the Irish economic recovery significantly increases. In Census 2006 1.158 people lived in the small town.

The megaliths of Tullyskeherny are far from Manorhamilton.

Traffic

On the rail transport in Ireland Manorhamilton is no longer connected since 1957, and also the bus route from Sligo to Enniskillen Town holds ( at least officially) not in town, but passes through them only.
