Mansel Island

Mansel Iceland ( Inuktitut: Pujjunaq ) is an uninhabited island at the entrance of the Hudson Bay in the north. Administratively it belongs to the region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut Qikiqtaaluk.

In the list of the largest islands of Canada Mansel Iceland stands at 28th, and among the largest islands in the world according to several sources at 155th or 159th place.

The 3180 km ² large island situated 55 km west of the Ungava Peninsula in the north-western Cape Pointe De Sainte -Hélène and is home to a nature reserve for caribou. For Europe, it was discovered in 1613 by Thomas Button, who after Sir Robert Mansell ( 1573-1656 ), Vice- Admiral of the Royal Navy named.

The highest elevation of the island reaches a height of 130 m.
