Mantes-la-Ville

Mantes- la -Ville is a commune in the region Ile- de -France in the department of Yvelines. The city is located 52 kilometers west of the city center of Paris and has 19,839 inhabitants (1 January 2011).

Geography

Mantes- la- Ville is located at the confluence of Vaucouleurs in the Seine. The municipal area is highly urbanized, but has a park along the river.

The railway line Paris -Rouen separates Mantes- la -Ville from the larger neighboring town of Mantes- la- Jolie. In addition, Mantes- la -Ville, is crossed by the Autoroute A13, which runs from Paris to Normandy.

The city was the seat of a cellophane factory, which specialized in the production of cellulose films. The plant was built in 1926 along the Seine near the farm of Chantereine.
