Mantle (climbing)

A Mantle or mantle is a special movement when climbing, typically to soar to a level (section or projection ).

The term is derived from a fireplace or its outer casing. Is an old house with high ceilings Just imagine, with a fireplace and a paragraph above the fireplace that has to be to scale, with no other support than at the chimney exterior wall.

The final movement resembles that of a swimmer without a ladder to use to pulling out of the basin, and its train movement in a pushing motion goes above a certain level of his shoulders down.

The climber reached up to the next level with one hand or both hands. If it is high enough, he swings one foot on the stand This movement can only be carried out with support from the edge of the upper state; is helpful, however, to have a stop for a walk. The use of a knee for support is considered poor technique, also because a dynamic, sweeping motion in a train the climbers often brings up only on the state and too little momentum threatens a crash.

The definition of " Mantle " movement is the presence of a foot and of both hands at the same level at the same time.

There is a controversy about the correct spelling if it hot " Mantle" or " coat". Both spellings are common among rock climbers.
