Manuel Brehmer

Manuel Brehmer ( born June 1, 1978 in Berlin ) is a retired German rower. His greatest successes were the runners-up title in the lightweight quadruple sculls in 1999 and the two-time Olympic participation in the lightweight double sculls.

Career

Brehmer, 1998 was the first time a member of the national team, in the lightweight double sculls he won with Dennis Niemeyer silver at the Nations Cup, the unofficial U23 World Championships. Already in 1999 were both rowers together with Thorsten Schmidt and Franz Mayer member of the German lightweight quadruple sculls, who won the silver medal at the World Championships in St. Catherines. In the following year Brehmer sat in the German lightweight quadruple sculls, who reached the fourth place this time.

Then moved to Brehmer Ingo Euler, the Olympic Fourth in this boat class in the Olympic lightweight double sculls. 2001 the team finished in fourth place at the World Championships, in 2003 she came fifth. 2002 Brehmer rowed together with Peter Ording, even this combination came in fourth. After the Olympic Games in Athens Jörg Lehnigk advanced to Brehmer in the double sculls, while Euler did end his career. 2005 and 2006 the team finished sixth at the World Championships, respectively. 2006 Brehmer was also the first German champion in the lightweight single sculls. 2007 missed Brehmer and Lehnigk in the lightweight double sculls into the finals at the World Championships in Munich, with the total eighth place was Germany, however, qualified in this class of boat for the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In spring 2008, Brehmer was again German champion in the lightweight single sculls while Lehnigk only reached the third place. Then moved the runner-up Jonathan Cook in the double sculls with Brehmer, the team reached at the Olympic Games in ninth place.

Brehmer, in 1879 started for the rudder Union Arkona Berlin, and then ended his career.
