Manuel de Zumaya

Manuel de Sumaya and Zumaya (c. 1678 in Mexico City, † 1756 in Oaxaca ) was a Mexican composer.

De Sumaya was organist and 1710-1738 as Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Mexico City, then in the same capacity at the chapel of Oaxaca.

In addition to numerous sacred works, including Lamentations, Motets, Magnificat, Miserere, and villancicos, he composed with Partenope and Rodrigo, the first Mexican operas.
