Manuel Hornig ( born December 18, 1982 in Kandel ) is a German football player.

Career

Hornig began playing football at the Palatine Club Olympia Rheinzabern and then moved to the youth of the Karlsruher SC. In 2000, he joined the SC Hauenstein, for which he was active in the Oberliga West until 2005. He then moved to 1.FC Saarbrücken. From 2007 to 2008 he was at Kickers Offenbach under contract, after which he joined the 1st FC Kaiserslautern. Originally committed as a key player for the second team, he played himself in the FCK by good performances in training and in the second division squad.

Hornig is left-footed and has been used at the 1 FC Saarbrücken mainly as a central defender, partly as a left-back. His first try in the second division he had on May 14, 2006 1 FC Saarbrücken 2-0 win against Eintracht Braunschweig. In addition, it was used twice in the DFB Cup.

In August 2010, Hornig signed a one-year contract with TuS Koblenz.

After a good season with the TuS he signed for the 2011/12 season a contract with Arminia Bielefeld who were previously relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga in the third league. On 7 Matchday he scored with the intermediate 1-0 his first goal for the east Westphalia in the 20th minute of the match against SSV Jahn Regensburg. The game ended 2-2. With the Arminia Hornig rose in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2013. In the 2013/14 season, he was named team captain.

His younger brother Florian ( born 1985 ) plays in the Oberliga West at SC Hauenstein.
