Manuel Vicente
Manuel Domingos Vicente ( born May 15, 1956 in Luanda, Angola) has long been Chairman of the Board and therefore supreme chief of the Angolan national oil company Sonangol. He has acquired a diploma in electrical engineering, specializing in mechanics at the Universidade Agostinho Neto in Luanda. Based on the results of the elections to the National Assembly of Angola 2012, he has since September 2012 vice-president of Angola.
Life
In his previous professional life he had from 1981 in charge until 1987 positions as chief engineer of a project department, as well as head of the technical department of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum from 1987 to 1991 held in the time before he in 1991 as Deputy Director General of Sonangol UEE was appointed.
By a decision of the Angolan Council of Ministers Manuel Vicente was elected president of the board of Sonangol named in August 1999, with headquarters in Luanda. On August 20, 2002, his mandate for another three years was extended by decree from the Council of Ministers.
In his role Manuel Vicente sits on numerous supervisory boards, as in the Angolan telecommunications company Unitel. He is Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Banco Comercial Português and Banco Africano de Investimentos (BAI ). He sits on the Board of Directors of Galp Energia and 2008 Member of the Supervisory Board of the Portuguese Energiunternehmens since January 15.
On 2 September 2011, the Angolan weekly Novo Jornal, which referred to the MPLA - related stakeholders Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos Manuel Domingos Vicente had chosen as his successor reported.
Beginning of 2012, Vicente was appointed Minister of Economic Coordination. Behind José Eduardo dos Santos, he was No. 2 on the list of candidates of the MPLA for the elections of August 2012. Manuel Vicente's financial activities in Portugal are under observation of the prosecutor's office since November 2012. It is believed that Vicente investments with two other high Angolan government officials should have made through shell companies. This includes the purchase of 24 % of the shares of a large Portuguese private bank in Angola.
