Manuela Henkel

Manuela Henkel ( born December 4, 1974 in Neuhaus am Rennweg, Suhl district ) is a former German cross-country skier.

Career

As early as preschool Manuela Henkel took part in the first competition. In 1987 she moved to the Children's and Youth Sports School Oberhof. After high school she joined in 1993 in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr.

The multiple German champion from WSV Oberhof 05 won at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City with the Cross Country Relay gold. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 Manuela Henkel became world champion, also with the German Cross Country Relay. She also competed in 1998 at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano (5th place in the relay ) and 2006 in Turin in part.

After missing Olympic qualification for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, she declared on 20 January 2010 her retirement from competitive sport.
