The Isle- of-Man -pound (also Manx pound ) is the currency of the Isle of Man. An Isle- of-Man -pound equivalent to a UK pound. By the year 1840, the Isle- of-Man -pound was divided into 280 pence (14 pence gave a shilling ). Consequently, copper coins were issued specifically for the Isle of Man.

Between 1840 and 1971 only specific notes were issued for the Isle of Man. In 1961, the government of the island was transferred to the sole right to issue paper money. In connection with the changeover to the decimal system in 1971, the island began to bring their own coins in circulation.
