MAP-Sensor

A MAP sensor (MAP = Manifold Absolute -Pressure ) is a pressure sensor for detecting the manifold absolute pressure in petrol and turbo diesel engines. In a gasoline engine to serve the obtained measurement used to control the electronic fuel injection, the turbo diesel from a signal is obtained, including the boost pressure of the turbocharger variable (VTG ) to control.

LPG systems which inject in the gas phase, also require, depending on the type of a MAP sensor, for evaluating the gas pressure against the manifold vacuum, and the boost pressure of the turbocharger.

As a rule, the MAP sensor is mounted directly on the intake manifold. The intake manifold pressure acts mostly on a piezoelectric element, which is then generated by an electronic circuit a corresponding output signal. Which may be a PWM signal or an electrical voltage.
