Maplewood is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in Ramsey County north and east of Saint Paul and has around 34,900 inhabitants.
Geography
Maplewood is located in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis -Saint Paul and shares about 19 kilometers boundary with the city of Saint Paul. By this classification, a narrow rectangular section in the south and a northern part was. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 46.6 square miles, of which 1.7 square miles of water.
History
As an independent place Maplewood was only on 27 February 1957 with the establishment of a Village. The southern section of the town was formed from areas of the former McLean townships, the northern part of the New Canada Township. At this time, Maplewood had about 14,200 inhabitants. In the 1970s it became a city.
