Mar de Ajó

Mar de Ajó is a major seaside resort in eastern Argentina. It is located near the mouth of the Río de la Plata on the Atlantic coast of the province of Buenos Aires.

Its population is 25 475, making it the largest town on the so-called Atlantida Argentina, an approximately 60 -kilometer area of the Atlantic coast, which is almost completely built and a total of approximately 100,000 permanent inhabitants. Mar de Ajó is the southernmost locality in that territory.

Location

Mar de Ajó lies on the straight shoreline of Cabo San Antonio, which has flat sandy beaches. The surrounding area is part of the Pampa. The climate is warmgemäßigt, with warm summers, mild winters and frequent rainfall.

History

1933, the previously uninhabited place of Ismael Ramos Mejía was bought, honored with the name La Margarita and established entirely new. He quickly became a popular seaside resort.
