Mar del Plata International Film Festival

The Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata is an international film festival in Mar del Plata in Argentina.

The festival was founded in 1954 and is the film producers association FIAPF accredited as one of twelve competitive film festivals in the world. Between 1971 and 1995, the Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata did not take place for political and economic reasons, after the establishment of a military government in Argentina.

President of the festival is Miguel Pereira.

Astor de Oro

The Astor de Oro is the main prize of the festival and will be awarded for the best film since 1959. Overall, the jury awards annually over fifteen film awards in various categories.
