Mara Wilson

Mara Elizabeth Wilson ( born July 24, 1987 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress.

Life

Mara Wilson is the second youngest of five children of a Jewish family. Her three older brothers hot Danny ( b. 1979 ), Jon ( b. 1980 ) and Joel ( b. 1982 ), her younger sister is Anna (* 1992).

After her brother Danny already gained his first experience as an actor in various commercials, Wilson decided to do the same. They also began initially as an actress for commercials on (eg for Texaco, Bank Of America ). At age five, she began her professional acting career. In 1993, she starred in the successful American soap opera Melrose Place. In the same year she was then at the age of six years, her first major movie role. She starred in the highly successful movie Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), the youngest daughter of the two main characters, played by Robin Williams and Sally Field.

The following year, she starred in the television drama And time heals all wounds, which is based on a true story, a young woman who suffers a stroke early 30s daughter. But Wilson's big break did not come until the end of 1994 with the Christmas film The Miracle of Manhattan, the remake of the film of the same name from 1947., You played the role of the 7 -year-old Susan Walker ( 1947 by Natalie Wood embodies ) not to Santa Claus believes and through this eventually gets to know the truth of Santa Claus. Ironically, Wilson is Jewish and has therefore not been brought up to believe in Santa Claus, but according to producer John Hughes fit this well on the role of Susan, as her statement that there were no Santa Claus, credible flippant.

In the following two years, still followed in each case a movie ( A Simple Wish, 1997) and a television film ( Harvey's magic balloons, 1999). Your so far last movie role was in 2000 as a granddaughter of Peter Fonda in Thomas and the Magic Railroad. This movie was a failure, whereupon Wilson decided to put her acting career on hold initially and primarily focus on the school and their private lives at the box office.

In June 2005, Wilson finally joined the Burbank High School and played successfully in August of the same year starred in a stage production of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein's musical Cinderella. From 2005 to 2009 she studied at the New York University drama and theater. In an interview with NYU Local she told in early 2009 that she could well imagine to play along later in independent films, but there would be no mainstream movies like Mrs. Doubtfire or Matilda with her anymore because she had no desire to be prominently.
