The Argentine Marambio station is the largest station of Argentina in Antarctica. It is located on the island of Seymour ( in Argentina also called isla Marambio ) located about 100 km from the Esperanza station. At this point, the first airfield in Antarctica built by Vice - Commodore Mario Luis Olezza first, before the station was established on 29 October 1969. It is named after the Argentine air force pilots Vice - Commodore Gustavo Argentino Marambio, who had flown over one of the first pilots to Antarctica.

The scientific research institutions of the station dealing with, among other things: observation of cosmic rays, glaciology (especially glacier and iceberg - research ), measurements of ozone and meteorology. To observe the continental drift of a twelve geodetic GPS markers in Antarctica was placed in Marambio.

The Marambio station was also used for studying the ionosphere. In September and October 1975 two -stage high-altitude research rockets were launched for the Max Planck Institute Type Castor (A) at 400 km. Five -offs of the smaller Super Loki took place for NASA in February 1982.
