Marbella FC

The Unión Deportiva Marbella is a Spanish football team from Marbella in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The club was founded in 1997 as a successor to the ruinous club Club Atlético Marbella. History

The club was founded in 1997 right after the release of CA Marbella and was Jesús Gil, who was president and principal shareholder of Atlético Madrid, as well as mayor of Marbella at the same time. The first season of the club playing in the Primera División de Andalucía and managed directly promotion to the Tercera División, where they could do in 2001 his group as a champion, but missed the rise in the play-offs. However, this succeeded two years later in the season 2002/ 03. Since then, the club plays in Segunda División B, the third Spanish football league. 2007, the club was taken over by the businessmen Ian Radford and Wayne Elliot.
