Marble Bar, Western Australia

Marble Bar is a small town in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia, 218 km south-east of Port Hedland. According to some definitions, he is recognized as the hottest place in the world. From October 31, 1923 to April 7, 1924, the temperature rose daily to 37.8 degrees. In December and January temperatures of 45 degrees is considered normal and the average temperature is during six months of the year over 37 degrees.

Marble Bar is different from other so-called hotspots ( engl. hot spots ) in which it is located in no particular geographical location that could cause such differences in temperature.

The name Marble Bar (german marble marble) is derived from the local Jasper Formation, which confused the first settlers with marble.
