Marc Meneau

Marc Meneau ( born October 27, 1943 in Avallon ) is a French chef.

Career

Meneau studied from 1961 at the Strasbourg hotel school Lycée hôtelier de Strasbourg. In 1966 he took over his mother's grocery store in Saint -Père -sous- Vezelay, where he opened a restaurant to parallel.

In 1972 he was awarded his first Michelin star and moved to Saint -Père a larger local, which he called L' Espérance. In 1975, the second Michelin star awarded him. In 1983 he was awarded the maximum of three stars and 19 of 20 points in the Gault Millau, to him also " Best French Chef of the Year " elected in the Michelin Guide. He planted 16 acres of Chardonnay vines to revive the White wine Bourgogne AOC vézelay. In 1999, he lost his third Michelin star, but got it back in 2004.

In 2004 he teamed up with the industrialists François Schneider, the company Société des Domaines de L' Espérance et du Roncemay founded ( Sder ) and opened in Aillant -sur -Tholon ( Yonne ) the leisure and gourmet conditioning Les domaines de l' ' Espérance et du Roncemay. This investment brought Meneau into financial difficulties and in January 2007, the company had to file for bankruptcy Sder.

Since 2008 Meneau was again awarded with two Michelin stars. In 2010 he opened his own vegetable garden with certified organic products.
