Marc Staal
Marc Staal ( born January 13, 1987 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defender, who currently plays for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League.

Career
Marc Staal began his career in 2003 in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL at the Sudbury Wolves. After two years proven in the OHL as a defender, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 by the New York Rangers in the first round at position twelve.
But remained Staal has been transferred to the Sudbury Wolves and led them as captain. He took with the Canadian U20 national team at the Junior World Cup in 2006 in part, won the gold medal and was voted the best defender of the tournament. When he had retired at the end of the 2005/06 season with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL playoffs, he was appointed to the crew of the Hartford Wolf Pack, the farm team of the New York Rangers and took with them part in the AHL playoffs.
The season 2006/ 07 he graduated from the OHL in Sudbury, for the first time to his younger brother Jared the page. In January 2007 he again won the world title at the Junior World Cup. With the Wolves, he reached the finals of the OHL playoffs, but failed there to the Plymouth Whalers. Nevertheless Staal Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the playoffs was excellent and received the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award. Added to this was the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the best defender of the OHL.
At the beginning of the 2007/ 08 Staal made his debut for the New York Rangers in the NHL.

Family
Marc Staal comes from a hockey family. Marc's three years older brother Eric Staal has been playing since 2003 in the NHL and was in June 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 even Jordan Staal followed, the drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins and after the 2006/07 season All- Rookie Team was elected to the NHL. Jordan Staal also won the Stanley Cup in 2009. Eric and Jordan were both drafted as second best in her class, as Marc twelfth. With his younger brother Jared, he played together in the OHL, which was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes to 49th place in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008.
