Marc Staal

Marc Staal ( born January 13, 1987 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defender, who currently plays for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League.

Career

Marc Staal began his career in 2003 in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL at the Sudbury Wolves. After two years proven in the OHL as a defender, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 by the New York Rangers in the first round at position twelve.

But remained Staal has been transferred to the Sudbury Wolves and led them as captain. He took with the Canadian U20 national team at the Junior World Cup in 2006 in part, won the gold medal and was voted the best defender of the tournament. Family

Marc Staal comes from a hockey family. Marc's three years older brother Eric Staal has been playing since 2003 in the NHL and was in June 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 even Jordan Staal followed, the drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins and after the 2006/07 season All- Rookie Team was elected to the NHL.
