Marc Van de Mieroop

Marc Van de Mieroop (* 1956) is a Belgian orientalist.

Van de Mieroop studied until 1978 at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and then in 1980 to obtain at Yale University, his master's degree and three years later his doctorate. Since 1996 he has been Professor of Ancient Near Eastern history at Columbia University in New York. He is mainly known for his comprehensive and concise representations of history.
