Marc van den Broek

Marc Jozef Magareta van den Broek ( born February 2, 1953 in Antwerp) is a Belgian painter and sculptor.

Life

From 1963 to 1965 and 1970 to 1971 he attended the Academy for Fine Arts in Berchem- Antwerp. In the period 1965 to 1970, he studied at the Technical School voor electrical mechanics in Antwerp, followed by a study at the Institute voor Kunstambachten, Antwerpen from 1972 to 1975.

Work

At the beginning of the 1980s, is dedicated to Marc van den Broek installations in the form of a symbiosis of art and technology, Flying Objects " mutants ". In 1984, he starts with the development of kinetic art that finds its peak from 1987 to 1989 in the Archaic and Technological Metamorphoses ( A.TE.M. ). A.TE.M. as an overt expression of Marc van den Broek symbolizes the spiritual overall design: archaic are the basic forms occurring (sphere, cube, pyramid), technology is the design principle of the objects and the motion of the objects is accomplished the metamorphosis.

" The Declaration of Independence " is produced 1990-1992 as kinetic sculpture that marks the farewell to the era of materialism at the end of the industrial age.

Inspired by the long-standing and close cooperation with industrial and commercial enterprises developed Marc van den Broek in the 90 years the project "From the work of art in business ." It engages in the concept of Joseph Beuys' " social sculpture " and sees the symbiosis of art and design business a synergetic process of inspiration, innovation and knowledge, thus promoting and contributing to the intellectual development of society. That approach is followed Marc van den Broek in his time in New York (1998-2008), where he worked with many well-known companies.

Parallel to this, the artist has mainly deal with the question of how to transform reality by the influence of the Internet, changes in perception and how this can be represented in art. To this end, he is working on a large painting cycle with the overarching theme of " angels and other ambassadors". The latest project by Marc van den Broek created in spring 2010 in Hamburg: the nomads garden. It is an art installation on the subject of social sculpture; according to the modular principle allows the nomads garden anywhere and install it acts on the urban organism.
