Marc Weller

Marc Weller ( born October 27, 1951 in Mutzig ) is a former French football goalkeeper.

Career

Weller was trained at the AS Mutzig in his Alsatian home until the age of 18 he joined the French first division side West SCO Angers 1970. At Angers he was only provided as a third goalie and played, apart from two cup games in the 1973/74 season, only in the reserve team. With the expiry of his contract in the summer of 1974 at this time 22 -year-old goalkeeper left the club, without having reached his professional debut in the top French league and signed with the SEC Bastia. There he was promoted to first choice goalkeeper and thus reached his Erstligadebüt, but was then largely replaced by Gérard Gili. However, Weller returned with the slightly younger Gili another competition and denied to the change of its competitors for FC Rouen in 1976, itself a total of 29 league games. After the departure Gilis Weller was asked a new colleague to the page with the Yugoslav national team goalkeeper Ognjen Petrović, who was in his place for the first keeper. Because of this, however, injured at the beginning of the season 1977/78, Weller took the position vacated gate and ran with it on in the UEFA Cup. In January 1978, he lost a this role, as was the Stade Rennes Pierrick Hiard, the later one match for France denied obliged and replaced him. Hiard guarded in the two final match in the European Cup against PSV Eindhoven, who had reached the team goal. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg score in the second leg 0-3, when Weller came on in the 75th minute, but could not prevent the defeat, although he conceded no other goal. Weller remained another year in Bastia, where he was used regularly.

As a coach Cahuzac the club in 1979 left in the direction of the second division FC Toulouse, he took with Weller in the southern French city.
