Marc Wright

Marc Wright (actually Snowell Marcus Wright; * April 21, 1890 in Chicago; † August 5, 1975 in Reading, Massachusetts) was an American pole vaulter.

When eliminator U.S. Eastern States for the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, he crossed on June 8, 1912 4.02 m. He was thus not only the first person who had mastered the four meters, but also the first official world record holder.

In Stockholm, however, he had to his compatriot Harry Babcock beaten, who won with 3.95m. Marc Wright shared with skipped 3.85 m silver medal with Frank Nelson, who represented also the United States.
