T == Career == Marc Zellweger began his football career in the youth of the upper FC Winterthur, before he moved into the second league to FC Seuzach. There, the former striker with numerous gates drew attention to himself until he from 4 classes higher gambling FC St. Gallen was finally obliged. At his first appearance he came into the Auf-/Abstiegsrunde 1994/95 at the home game in Espenmoos against Yverdon Sports. Against FC Solothurn was Marc Zellweger for the first time in the starting lineup, and scored 2 goals directly.

As time moved Marc Zellweger from attack to midfield. After a 8-0 defeat against the Grasshoppers Zurich in the final round of 1997 coach Roger Hegi Marc Zellweger chose because of its speed and strength in the tackle set up as a defender. The next game, also against the GCZ, ended with a successful 2:2. In the 1997/98 season Marc Zellweger won with FC St. Gallen, Swiss Indoor Championship and reached the Cup Final against Lausanne Sports, which, however, went to penalty shootout lost. Two years later, Zelli won sensationally the Swiss Championship with the FCSG. When deciding game in Lucerne, he contributed one goal in a 2-1 victory.

In the Champions League qualifier against Galatasaray scored Zellweger away an unfortunate own goal with a header. In the UEFA Cup against Chelsea FC he wore it on his part to ensure that the big favorite could be defeated sensational. In the following season Zellweger reached with FC St. Gallen again qualifying for the UEFA Cup, where he scored his first and only European Cup goal against SC Freiburg.

After a successful time at FC St. Gallen place in autumn 2001 after an emotional farewell match in domestic Espenmoos in which Zellweger after the game threw everything including his pants into the audience, switching to the first FC Cologne. In his first Bundesliga action against FC St. Pauli on 24 November 2001 Zellweger scored his only Bundesliga. His second goal for the Cologne scored Marc Zellweger in the Cup against Hertha BSC. After a coaching change Zellweger was henceforth no longer first choice and moved on loan to the team FC Wil, before he returned the following season to go to FC St. Gallen. In a game against Young Boys Bern Marc Zellweger went to a sending-off against the goalkeeper into the goal and held promptly the penalty. After the descent 2007, the now celebrated as Fussballgott Zellweger as Captain FC St. Gallen in the new stadium AFG Arena and the chances of promotion back into the Super League. This was followed by his last season for FC St. Gallen, by the end of 2009/10 season, his contract was not renewed. As an appreciation of his work done for FC St. Gallen and the 500 games that he played for the club, was also decided that the # 17 will henceforth be awarded no more. His jersey was framed and hangs on the fan curve since aspen block.

Marc Zellweger would then end his career, but the first division Brühl St. Gallen showed interest in Marc Zellweger and wanted to support him at the same time when entering the professional world. Marc Zellweger accepted the offer and reached the SC Brühl complete surprise promotion to the Challenge League. With the simultaneous descent of FC St. Gallen came first time in almost 40 years back to town derbies. In the return match at AFG Arena Marc Zellweger was wildly acclaimed and replaced with a standing ovation. 23 May 2012 Marc Zellweger played in the 1-1 draw against SR Delémont his last game as playing football. He remains in the SC Brühl as a fitness and conditioning coach.
