Marcel Appiah ( born March 26, 1988 in Schwelm ) is a German - Ghanaian footballer who is under contract with Arminia Bielefeld and is used as a defender.

Career

Appiah began at the age of three years playing football and came through the clubs TuS Ennepetal, FC Schalke 04, TSG Sprockhövel, VfL Bochum and SG Wattenscheid 09 again in 2007 to TSG Sprockhövel, where he worked in the Oberliga Westfalen in 19 games to score achieved.

In 2008 he moved to the second team Arminia Bielefeld. For the 2010/11 season he was awarded the status of a contract Amateurs at Arminia Bielefeld to recommend after first few times in the preseason on for the second division team Arminia. His second league debut Appiah on 19 April 2010 during the home game against 1 FC Kaiserslautern, where he was part of the starting lineup.

After the Arminia was relegated after the 2010/11 season in the 3rd league, Appiah received for 2011/12 season a professional contract with DSC. After he belonged in the first ten games under new coach Markus von Ahlen to the regulars, he came after his release at first only sporadically used. On 28 Matchday he played for the first time in 18 games back from the beginning and immediately scored his only goal this season. In the following games Appiah kept his place and finished the season with Arminia in the lower mid-table.

In his second non- league season, Appiah established in the starting eleven as a versatile player. At the end of the season he celebrated with the Arminia promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, resulting in his contract extended automatically.
