The center-back started his career at FC Nantes, which he already joined the age of eleven, and until 1992 remained faithful. Desailly 's athlete ambassador of development organization Right to Play. In 2011 he founded just outside of Accra, a youth soccer academy and built the The Lizzy Sports Complex in East Legon in Accra.
