Marcel Freeman

Marcel Freeman ( born March 30, 1960 in Port Washington, New York ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Life

Freeman studied at the University of California in Los Angeles and was elected to the best selection All-American four times. He won in 1982 with the team's NCAA Championship. In 1984 he reached the ATP tournament in Bari the semi-finals, along with Tim Wilkison he was also in the finals of the doubles competition. The following year he won in Nancy at the side of Rodney Harmon his only doubles title, with Laurie Warder he was also again in the doubles final of Bari. In 1986, he won the individual title at the Challenger tournament in Enugu, he also reached the final of the Challenger tournament in Lagos and Nairobi, in the latter tournament, he was also in the doubles final.

In 1987, he was with the semi-finals at the Queensland Open his best individual result on the ATP World Tour. The following year, he won the doubles title with David Dowlen the Challenger tournament in Guadeloupe. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached position 46 in the singles and in 1987 with position 70 in a double 1986.

In some his best result was at a Grand Slam tournament of the third round participation at the U.S. Open in 1986. 's Doubles competition he could once each reach the third round at each of the four Grand Slam tournaments.
