Marcel Odenbach

Marcel Odenbach (* 1953 in Cologne) is a German video artist.

Life and work

From 1974 to 1979 he studied architecture, art history and semiotics at the University of Aachen. Since 1976 he has been working with video performances, installations and tapes. In 1984 he is at the group exhibition from here on - represented two months new German art in Dusseldorf. Since 1992, he has professorships at the State University of Design, Karlsruhe, and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where he held the office of vice-rector.

Odenbach lives and works in Cologne. Since the summer semester 2010 Marcel Odenbach has a full professor for film and video at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf. In the same year he was elected to the North Rhine- Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Marcel Odenbach heard with Ulrike Rosenbach and Klaus vom Bruch 's three most internationally acclaimed German video artists. Together they formed in the 1970s, the group of producers ATV.
