Marcelo dos Santos, in Brazil Marcelinho Paraíba, short Marcelinho ( born May 17, 1975 in Campina Grande, Brazil ) is a Brazilian footballer who currently plays for Grêmio Barueri.
The personal trademark of the flamboyant football player are his most eye-catching shoes, and his often brightly colored hair.
Career
Association
As of the 2001 / 02 season, played Marcelinho for a transfer fee of € 7.5 million at Hertha BSC. He was one of the most important players of the club, as Marcelinho is considered technically gifted player and also can play the role of the game designer in the midfield. To this end, he often was also responsible for the execution of free kicks, corner kicks and penalty kicks. In the Bundesliga 2004/ 05 Marcelinho scored against SC Freiburg a goal from 48.3 meters and so won the election to the gate of May. At the beginning of the season 2006/ 07 he took his own authority nine days longer holiday, which led to discord with the club's management and disastrous appearance. After Marcelinho had expressed contradictory to in the next few days whether he wants to stay in the capital or not, his career ended at Hertha BSC through the conclusion of a three -year contract with the Turkish first division side Trabzonspor, to which he moved for about 2.5 million euros. For the second half of the season 2006/ 07 Marcelinho changed for 2.75 million euros to VfL Wolfsburg. On 22 Round Marcelinho scored his first goal for VfL free kick. After the departure of Kevin Hofland, he was appointed by coach Felix Magath to the new captain, reaching VfL Wolfsburg to fifth place in the Bundesliga table and thus a place in the UEFA Cup. On 12 August 2008, the VfL Wolfsburg announced that Marcelinho will leave the club in the direction Flamengo Rio de Janeiro. On March 8, 2009 Marcelinho moved to rivals Coritiba FC. After the descent of Coritiba he was transferred on 18 December 2009 to Sao Paulo. Between 2010 and 2012 he played at Sport Recife and managed his team to promotion to the Brazilian league. Since 2012 he plays for Grêmio Barueri.

Thanks to his success in the Bundesliga he came to five appearances in the " Seleção ", in which he once met. Since September 2001, he played no new game for the Brazilian national team.

Private
On November 26, 2011 will be club Sport Recife had managed a 1-0 victory the resurgence in the Brazilian first division. That should be celebrated with a big party on the property of the footballer.
