Marcellus Boss

Marcellus Graeme Boss ( * January 21, 1901, † March 21, 1967 ) was an American politician. In 1959 and 1960 he was Acting Governor of Guam.

Career

Neither the birth nor the place of death of Marcellus Boss have survived. After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Columbus (Kansas ) for 30 years. He was also the legal representative of the city of Kiowa, where he was temporarily employed as City Clerk. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1945 and 1949 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Kansas.

In 1957, Boss was appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower for the Secretary of State for the U.S. State territory of Guam. This office also included the Deputy of the Governor. Thus he had to take the orphaned Office ( until July 9, 1960 November 14, 1959 ) for the period between the departure of Governor Richard Barrett Lowe and the inauguration of the new Governor Joseph Flores.

Marcellus Boss died on March 21, 1967 of a heart attack and was buried in Columbus.
