Marcin Lijewski ( born September 21, 1977 in Krotoszyn, Poland) is a Polish handball player who also plays in the Polish national team.

Career

His career began in 1991 in Ostrow Wielkopolski PPS ( 1991-1996 ) in his home country. He then moved to GKS Wybrzeze Gdańsk (1996-2001). This was followed by a season at Orlen Plock SSA.

On 1 July 2002 Lijewski moved to SG Flensburg- Handewitt, where he played as a left-hander on the inside right position. For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to HSV Hamburg, for his brother Krzysztof also played.

May 16, 2012 Lijewski was officially adopted in the O2 World Hamburg by the association, since the association no longer planned at this time with him. 30 May 2012, however, was publicly that Lijewski but has extended for another year in Hamburg. In July 2013 he signed a contract with Wisła Płock.

For Poland, he has not played 251 internationals. At the World Cup in Germany in 2007 he was defeated by Poland in the final against Germany. Because of his achievements, he was elected to the All-Star Team of the World Cup in 2007 to the position backcourt right. It was particularly decisive for his defensive behavior, which makes it one of the most complete players in the Polish national team.

At the 2009 World Championships Marcin Lijewski succeeded again elected to the All- Star team.

On 5 February 2007, he presented the Polish President Lech Kaczyński, the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
