Marcinowo, EÅ‚k County

Marcinowo ( German: Marczynowen, 1928-1945 Martinshöhe ) is a scoring for community Kalinowo village in the northeastern Mazury in Polish Warmia - Masuria, Elk County.

The village is situated four kilometers north of the town Kalinowo ( German calligrapher Owen ) at a leading after Dorsze highway.

History

The origin of the Masurian village name is not clear. It is strongly suspected that it was derived from the first name Marcin, the Slavic form for Martin, as well as the names of nearby towns have corresponding similarities.

1656 were allied with Poland Tatars in large parts of Mazury and in Marczynowen, the village was almost completely destroyed.

1792 and 1793 were recorded in a traditional school list at the School of Marczynowen 21 boys and 12 girls.

With the Prussian local government reform of 1874 Marczynowen belonged administratively as a rural community to the District Kalli Owen in the district of Lyck. The Head of Office had Owen Calligraphic until 1931 its headquarters here in Marczynowen ( Martinshöhe ) itself.

Marczynowen was renamed in 1928 in the wake of increasing Germanization of place names Masurian, Polish or Lithuanian origin in Martinshöhe. The name change followed the adoption of the origin of the name Marczynowen the name Marcin / Martin and the link with the geographical condition of a small hill in the local area.

1933 are listed in Martinshöhe 305 inhabitants. 1939 Martin height only 271 inhabitants.

After the end of World War II in 1945 to the German Empire ( East Prussia ) belonging to Martin amount fell to Poland. The resident population was German, if they had not fled, largely expelled after 1945 or resettled and in addition to the traditional Masurian minority by new residents from other parts of Poland, especially from the region Raczki originating in Podlasie replaced. The place Martinshöhe was renamed the Polish spelling of the historic city name Marczynowen in Marcinowo.

From 1975 to 1998 Marcinowo belonged to the former Suwałki Voivodeship, then came 1999 on the newly formed Warmia and Mazury.
