Marco Blaauw

Marco Blaauw ( born September 23, 1965 in Lichtenvoorde ) is a Dutch trumpeter.

Biography

Marco Blaauw first studied at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam trumpet and continued his studies later, among others with Pierre Thibaud and Markus Stockhausen continued. As a permanent member Marco Blaauw the Cologne-based ensemble musikFabrik is connected since 1994. Engagements as a soloist led, inter alia, it to cooperate with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the sound Wien, London Sinfonietta, and the Asko | Schönberg Ensemble

The development of the trumpet, their technique and repertoire, is the aim and objective of Marco Blaauw. His involvement in the music ensemble he supplemented by solo projects in the field of contemporary composed and improvised music, and close collaboration with well-known and young composers of our time. Many works have been written especially for Marco Blaauw and inspired by him, including compositions by Peter Eötvös, Richard Ayres, Isabel Mundry, Rebecca Saunders and Hanna Kulenty.

Since 1998 he has worked closely with Karlheinz Stockhausen. Blaauw has been involved in numerous premieres within the opera cycle LICHT. In August 2008, he starred in the premiere of HARMONIES for trumpet from the cycle KLANG for BBC Radio at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

His work in ensembles and as a soloist is documented in numerous radio and CD recordings. In the summer of 2005, the portrait CD Blaauw appeared with solo works by Barry, Ayres, Saunders, Scelsi, among others Mundry In October 2006, the CD HOT appeared, and was released in 2007 in collaboration with Gijsbrecht Roye the CD improvisation.

Since 2000, Marco Blaauw is also the subject of educational work with musical amateurs for whom he wants to bring the sounds and ideas of contemporary music closer.
