Marco Bode

Marco Bode ( born July 23, 1969 in Osterode am Harz ) is a former German football player and now a board member of the SV Werder Bremen. It shall only ten cautions in 379 games as one of the fairest player in Bundesliga history. 1996 and 2002, he was awarded the Bremen athlete of the year.

Biography

Family and Education

His childhood was spent in the Bode Osterode district Schwiegershausen. After his graduation in 1988 he began studying mathematics at the University of Hagen, after studying philosophy at the University of Bremen. Both courses he gave up because the time in addition to the work as a professional footballer was not sufficient. After the end of his footballing career, he completed a one-year crash course in business administration.

Professional footballer

In 1988, Bode of his home club VfR Osterode 08 to the amateurs of Werder Bremen. There he was discovered by Otto Rehhagel and came into the first team of Werder. On March 29, 2008 Bode was the first athlete to cultural and Peace Award of Villa Ichon in Bremen. Since November 5, 2012 Bode is a member of the board of SV Werder Bremen. For his services to the sport in Lower Saxony, he was inducted into the Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.
