Marco Casanova

Marco Casanova ( born June 7, 1976 in Chur ) is a retired Swiss ski racer. He drove almost exclusively slalom races, and occasionally giant slalom.

Biography

Casanova grew up in the Surselva Obersaxen. He began his career with inserts in FIS races and in the European Cup. At the Junior World Championships in 1995 in Voss, he won the silver medal in the slalom. On 15 December 1997, he raced in Sestriere for the first time in a World Cup race.

The first World Cup points Casanova brought on 18 January 1998 as the 18th of the slalom in Veysonnaz. In the same year he also took part in the Winter Olympics in Nagano, but where he could not classify themselves. He achieved the best World Cup result on 13 March 1999 in the Sierra Nevada, when he drove in the slalom at the third place. In the following years, Casanova established in the midfield, but only once he managed to place in the top ten. End of the season 2003/ 04 he announced his retirement from professional racing.
