Life and career

To 2003: Junior career and first professional tournaments

Marco Crugnola occurred in the years 2000 and 2001 at several international junior tournaments, and was able to win a title in doubles. From 2002 Crugnola stepped in to Satellite and Futures tournaments, and was able to collect 2003 first world ranking points there.

2004-2007: Success in Futures and Challenger tournaments

2004 Marco Crugnola opted for a career as a professional tennis player. In September 2005 he won in Italy his first Futures title. In May 2006, followed in the UK the next Future titles, also Crugonal could reach the quarter-finals at several Challenger tournaments this year, and rose up to the end of the year to No. 323 in the world rankings. In March 2007, Marco Crugnola was in Sarajevo for the first time in a Challenger semifinals. This year, he tried to qualify for multiple Grand Slam tournaments, and made it here at Wimbledon to the third qualifying round. In April 2007, he had worked its way up to # 249 in the world rankings, but fell in the following twelve months back down to rank 543.

2008-2010: ATP debut and entry into the Top 200

In February 2008, succeeded Crugnola in Delray Beach for the first time qualifying for an ATP tournament, but he lost in the first round against Mardy Fish. After he had reached 2008, three Challenger quarter-final in the summer, he was in August 2008 in Vigo as a qualifier for the first time in a Challenger final, which he lost, however, in three sets against Pablo Andújar. In September 2008 Crugnola reached two additional Challenger semifinals, and worked his way within half a year to over 300 places to rank 227 in the world rankings before. In doubles, he could even win four Challenger titles this year.

The first major success in 2009 was a Challenger semi-final in April 2009. A month later, Marco Crugonla was the Madrid Masters by beating the top 100 players Máximo González and Iván Navarro for the second time in his career for an ATP - tournament qualify. In the first round, however, he was then Stanislas Wawrinka chance against. In June 2009, he resigned as already two years ago at the Wimbledon qualifiers in the third qualifying round. Then he reached rank 165 his best ever ranking in the world rankings.

Due to absence of successes Marco Crugnola fell into the following twelve months back down to rank 351. However, he lost in straight sets to the set at position 2 Robin Haase. The following months were without major highlights, and he finished the year ranked 235 in the world rankings.

2011-2012: Grand Slam debut

In January 2011, Marco Crugnola could qualify for the first time in his career for a Grand Slam tournament at the Australian Open. In the first round, but he lost to then clear the set at position 6 Tomáš Berdych. However, as the year progressed he was unable to build on this success, he failed at Wimbledon as two years earlier in the third qualifying round.
