Marco Engelhardt ( born December 2, 1980 in Bad Langensalza ) is a German football player.

Career

In youth Engelhardt played for farming or Prussia Bad Langensalza before he moved to the youth of the FC Rot -Weiß Erfurt 1994. There he succeeded in 1999, the leap to the first team that played in the Regionalliga. He takes in his first season a regular place and has increasingly become a service provider. Together with his friend Clemens Fritz he left the club in 2001 in the direction of Karlsruher SC, where both fast secured also a regular place.

In 2004, the two parted ways. While Fritz joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen, it attracted Engelhardt 1 FC Kaiserslautern, where he experienced a steep rise in his career. Hardly changed from the second league to Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga, the defensive midfielder has developed into a leading player and impressed with consistently good performances. He managed this year to be nominated after just 14 league games for the national team. His first of three internationals - one of them in the starting lineup - he played on 16 December 2004 on a trip to Asia, had canceled for some regular players, the 3-0 victory against Japan in Yokohama.

In the following season, in which he was captain, he could not confirm and its services is located in the relegation FCK abated the hopes placed in him. At the end of the 2010/11 season Engelhardt's contract was terminated by mutual consent at KSC.

At the start of the 2011/12 season, he completed a trial with English second division club Peterborough United, where he was used in a test match, but received no contract. For the second half of the third league season, he returned to Rot- Weiß Erfurt. There he was flexibly used in defense or defensive midfield and came in all rear round games used, whereby he scored one goal.
