Marco Iceland is a city in Collier County in the U.S. state of Florida with 16 413 inhabitants ( 2010). The metropolitan area has a size of 44.3 km ². The number of inhabitants has not changed significantly in recent years, which is understandable due to the insularity. In contrast, the number of seasonal tourists has increased with its own apartment to more than 30,000. After 1927 Marco was appointed for the second time to the city ( the 400th in FL) in August 1997.

History

From 1983 to 1986, a WTA tennis tournament was held in Marco Iceland.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 16 413 inhabitants distributed to 17,134 households. The population density was x inh. / Km ². 95.9 % of the population were white, 0.5% African American, 0.1% Native American and 1.1% Asian Americans. 1.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 0.7 % of various ethnicities. 7.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 60.6 % of all households lived in 10.9 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 68.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.00 persons and the average family size was 2.35 persons.

10.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 9.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 22.6% were 40-59 years old and 57.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 64 years. 49.0 % of the population were male and 51.0 % female.

The average annual income was $ 72,418, while 7.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 88.21 % of the population spoke Spanish 4.95% and 6.84% had a different mother tongue.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 75 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There were three rapes, one robbery, 14 injuries, 21 burglaries, 135 thefts and five car thefts.
