Marco Negri

Marco Negri ( born October 27, 1970 in Milan ) is a retired Italian footballer. The striker had its most successful period in the second half of the 1990s at the Serie A club AC Perugia and in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers.

Career

Marco Negri began his professional career in 1988/ 89 in the northern Italian city of Udine. To get more match practice, he was loaned the following season in the Serie C2 club Novara Calcio. Then he returned to Udinese Calcio, but came up just five appearances in one and a half years. The end of 1991, the striker went to Ternana Calcio in Serie C1. There he got while playing experience, but the breakthrough he failed. For the 1993/94 season he moved to Cosenza Calcio in Serie B, in November, he moved again to the club and played a class lower for the FC Bologna.

The silent attacker was in the summer of 1994, again in Cosenza and managed in the following season the breakthrough. In 34 second division games he scored 19 goals. Negri was then obliged by league rivals AC Perugia and was able to keep his batting average with 18 goals in 33 games constant. Also, because of Negri's marksmanship Perugia celebrated the promotion to Serie A. Marco Negri scored in the highest Italian league 15 times, but could not prevent relegation of his club. For £ 3.5 million in mid-1997 he moved to Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. There, he scored in the first ten games of the season 23 goals. The autumn of 1997 was the high point in the changing career of the Italian. The record-breaking rate of the first games Negri could not keep, but came on outstanding 32 goals in 29 league games.

After an eye injury he incurred while playing squash game with his teammates Sergio Porrini, he never reached his old form again. Negri was loaned to Vicenza Calcio, where he was not convinced. After his return to the Rangers, he played only one time. He tried in Bologna, with the U.S. Cagliari, AS Livorno, and at his former club in Perugia, but to his earlier achievements Negri was not able.
