Marco Pascolo

Marco Pascolo ( born May 9, 1966 in Sion ) is a retired Swiss football goalkeeper.

Career

He began his career as a junior at Pascolo FC Sion, where he succeeded in 1986 made ​​it into the first team. Under coach Roy Hodgson in January 1992 he made his debut in the national team. It developed in the sequel to the regulars and brought it to 55 missions. In 2001 he resigned from the national team.

Highlights in his international career was the participation in the 1994 World Cup in the United States ( Switzerland, reached the fourth round ) and at the European Championship in England in 1996 ( the difference Switzerland in the preliminary round off). On the goal line Pascolo showed frequently world-class reflexes and saved his team many points. However, he revealed weaknesses in the run-out ( penalty area ) and in return passes.

His good performances at Euro 1996 allowed him a move to the Serie A Cagliari Calcio and later to England to Nottingham Forest. He could never take off right there and returning in 1998 to Switzerland for FC Zurich.

In 2006 he ended his active career in his parent club FC Sion and became goalkeeping coach.
