Marco Russ

Marco Russ (* August 4, 1985 in Hanau ) is a German football player.

Club career

Youth

His career started with four years in his parent club VfB 06 Großauheim. Under his first coach, his father Rainer Russ, and assistant coach Steffen saint he played there from the F- to D- youth. He moved in 1996 to the youth department of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Russ went through the youth teams of Eintracht Frankfurt and stood since 2004 in the first team squad of the concord. In the 2004/05 season with Eintracht Frankfurt he achieved promotion to the Bundesliga. The 1.90 m wide central defender came at Eintracht Frankfurt but at first no more than 3 appearances in the Bundesliga 2 addition. But he was able to convince at indoor tournaments during the winter break again and again. Round 26 of the 2005/06 season he came off the bench in a 5-2 home win over MSV Duisburg in the 76th minute and played on the unfamiliar position for him right in the midfield diamond. In the match against 1.FC Cologne 27 on game day then Funkel put him due to numerous failures from the beginning in the defensive area along with Daniyel Cimen defensive one. Since then, Russ was one of the fixed part of Frankfurt's central defense and extended in January 2008 his contract until 30 June 2012.

VfL Wolfsburg

After relegation from the Bundesliga Eintracht Russ moved in July 2011 to VfL Wolfsburg; he signed a contract until 30 June 2014. He could, after some initial difficulties initially penetrated as regulars under Felix Magath. In the 2012/13 season he came but no longer used.

After returning to Frankfurt

This prompted him to go into the winter break of the 2012/13 season on loan until end of season back to Eintracht Frankfurt. The lending transaction also included an option to purchase, but did not pull the Frankfurter. After the end of the rental period Russ should therefore return to Wolfsburg, but he signed in June 2013 a new three-year contract in Frankfurt.

Internationally

In August 2006 Marco Russ was appointed coach Dieter Eilts first time in the cadre of U- 21 team, but there was never used. Shortly before, on 16 May 2006 Russ graduated its first game in the German U-20 national team against Austria's U- 21 team (2:3).

In January 2012, Russia announced its intention to play for the Croatia national team.

Private

His wife 's paternal Croatian descent. End of January 2012 gave Russ announced that he had requested the dual citizenship and hope for a European Championships 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. However, the FIFA ties entitled to play regardless of the citizenship of other conditions, so Russ' parents or grandparents had to be born in Croatia or even there he have had five consecutive years of residence.
