Marcus Arrecinus Clemens (prefect 70)

Marcus Arrecinus Clemens († 83-96 ) was a Roman senator in the 1st century.

He was son of the praetorian prefect under Caligula. The younger Arrecinus received, although Senator, transferred to the same office in the year 70 after the Civil War of the Four Emperors year because he was related to the new Flavian imperial family: his sister Arrecina Tertulla was the first, early deceased wife of the Emperor 's son and the future emperor Titus was.

At an unknown date, perhaps under Nero, held the praetorship Arrecinus Clemens as praetor urbanus. In the year 73 he was Suffektkonsul, legatus Augusti pro afterwards praetore ( governor ) of the province of Hispania Tarraconensis. A second Suffektkonsulat he held probably in the year 83 or 84 under Domitian. You may Arrecinus was also prefect of Rome ( probably not, as previously believed, curator aquarum ). Although he was one of Domitian's confidant, he was executed by the emperor to an unknown date.
