Marcus Foligno

Marcus Foligno (born 10 August 1991, Buffalo, New York ) is an American- Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays in the position of left winger. Since May 2011 he is with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League under contract and play for their farm team, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League.

Career

Marcus Foligno was born in Buffalo in upstate New York. Since both of his parents had Canadian citizenship, Foligno received dual citizenship of the United States and Canada. Foligno played as a junior for the Sudbury Wolves Bantam AAA and the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in regional leagues of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association.

Sudbury Wolves (2007-2011)

Marcus Foligno professional playing career began in the 2007/ 08 season, after he was selected by the Sudbury Wolves in the second round to 39th place in the OHL Priority Selection 2007. At the end of his first season for the Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League Foligno could produce five goals and six assists for eleven points scorer in 66 games. Foligno spent this season 38 minutes in the penalty box.

In his second OHL season, the Canadian winger increased its yield on 30 points, of which twelve gates. Personal

Marcus Foligno came as the son of Mike Foligno and Janis Foligno to the world. His father was captain of the Buffalo Sabres in the 1989/90 NHL season. His brother Nick Foligno played four years earlier than Marcus in the NHL. This runs since then, just like Marcus, on the position of the left winger for the Ottawa Senators on. Janis Foligno, Marcus 's mother died in July 2009 after five years of illness from cancer.
