Marcus Furius Bibaculus

Marcus Furius Bibaculus was in the Roman Empire, v. to his time, the 1st century BC, modern and penniless poet of the family of forager, which is counted to the circle of Neoteriker.

According to Jerome Furius Bibaculus was born in 103 BC in Cremona, but should he have been somewhat younger. He is the only Furius stated addressee of some of the works of Catullus, the poems 11, 16, 23 and 26, identified, from which it appears that he was also a friend Juventius and Aurelius.

His own works are lost except for fragments. Among them were epigrams and Iambi in which he appeared against Caesar and Octavian, and a prose work Lucubrationes. The attribution of other works is controversial in research.
