Marcus Geganius Macerinus

Marcus Geganius Macerinus († 431 BC) was a politician and general of the Roman Republic. He was three times consul.

Origin

He came from the patrician gens Gegania, which probably came from Alba Longa, as the Julier also, and from there to the conquest and destruction of the city relocated under their king Tullus Hostilius to Rome by the Romans. Marcus Geganius Macerinus was in the 5th century, the most important representative of his family.

Political offices and commander

His position in society was important, so he was not only elected three times consul, but also with the introduction of the Office of Censors, together with Gaius Furius Fusus Pacilus 435 BC the Roman Republic was first censor. The consulate he held for the first time in the year 447 BC, Gaius Julius Iullus. His second consulship, he held 443 BC by Titus Quinctius Capitolinus barbatus, and the third time he was with Lucius Sergius Fidenas in the year 437 BC consul. In his second consulate 443 BC he defeated the Volscians under their king Cluilius, for which he, the Senate approved a triumphal procession. He died after the year 431 BC, the year in which it is mentioned again as a legacy.
