Marcus Morris (basketball)

Marcus Morris ( born September 2, 1989 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player. He's been playing the 2011/12 season in the NBA, currently with the Phoenix Suns.

Life

Morris was born in Philadelphia, the son of Thomasine Morris. He has four brothers. His seven minutes older twin brother Markieff, with whom he was in high school and college in a team that also plays in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns.

Career

High School

With his high school team, the Prep Charter High School Eagles, he was champion in 2006 and 2007 of the State of Pennsylvania. He holds the school record with 1325 points for the most hits during high school career.

College

In the first two semesters as a " freshman " at the University of Kansas he was in the course of the season 2008/ 09 22 times in the starting five and came to an average operating time of 18.5 minutes in which he made 7.4 points. With a total of 654 points, Morris was able to place for points in a season ranked 12th in the Eternal Table of the University of Kansas. The Kansas Jayhawks won under his leadership this season the league championship and Morris was voted player of the year, the Big 12 Conference.

NBA

On the NBA Draft in 2011 Morris was in 14th place, one place behind his brother selected Markieff, of the Houston Rockets. Making his first appearance in the NBA he had on 26 December 2011 at the game with the Orlando Magic. On 2 January 2012, the Rockets gave him from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League, to give him there more operating time. During the season 2011/12 Morris changed hands several times between the NBA and D- League. For the Houston Rockets, he played 17 times this season with an average operating time of 7.4 minutes, during which he made 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds fetched.

Due to the injury to Patrick Patterson Morris moved to the beginning of the 2012/13 season in the starting five. On 29 December 2012, he scored in the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with 24 points his previous Karrierebestwert.

In February 2013 Morris was traded by the Rockets to the Phoenix Suns. In return, the Rockets got a pick in the NBA Draft 2013. Thus Morris is now with his twin brother along with the Suns under contract. This is since the 1976/77 season, in which Tom and Dick Van Arsdale played for the Suns, only the second time in NBA history that twin brothers played in a franchise at the same time.
