Marcus Nilson

Marcus Nilson ( born March 1, 1978 in Bålsta ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who plays since 2009 Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Elitserien.

Career

The 1.88 m wide winger began his career at Djurgårdens IF, for which he was finally in 1995, also used in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish professional league. NHL Entry Draft 1996, the right-handed shooter was selected as 20 in the first round by the Florida Panthers ( drafted ).

In 1998 Nilson went to North America, where he completed his first NHL inserts for the Panthers, but most of the time at their farm team, the Beast of New Haven, was used in the American Hockey League. In the 2000 /01 season, the attacker became a regular player in Florida, however, he was transferred in exchange for a second-round pick for the 2004 Draft to the Calgary Flames on March 8, 2004. The Panthers used the draft pick finally select David Booth.

During the lockout in the season 2004 /05, the Swede came back for one season for his hometown club Djurgårdens IF. After ten years Nilson North America left after the 2007/ 08 season and moved to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the newly formed Continental Hockey League.

Internationally

The Swedish ice hockey team Marcus Nilson won at the World Championships 2004, Silver Medal, he also contested the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and the U-20 World Championships in 1996 and 1997.
