Marcus Scribonius Libo

Marcus Drusus Libo Scribonius († September 13, 16 AD in Rome ) was a Roman senator at the beginning of the imperial period.

Libo Drusus was probably the grandson ( according to older reconstructions of the son ) of Lucius Scribonius Libo (consul 34 BC) and was of Marcus Livius Drusus Libo adopted (consul 15 BC). His great-aunt was Scribonia, temporary wife of the Emperor Augustus. About his mother Pompeia Magna, he was the great-grandson of the triumvir Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus.

He was praetor in the year 16 AD; his brother Lucius was consul in the same year. This year Libo Drusus was indicted by the Senate to plan a coup against Emperor Tiberius and have asked to soothsayers and astrologers. According to the representation of Tacitus it was a long beforehand been threaded intrigue that Libo Drusus could not refute, although most of the accusations was ridiculous. However, because the Senate decided to consult Libo's slaves under torture, he asked to interrupt the negotiation for a day, and took against the advice Scribonias before the end of the process of life. Only then told Tiberius, he would have voted for an acquittal. Libo's property was divided among the accusers.
